Why I Started Hello Weirdos and Why You Should Care

Hi guys...I'm Dominique. I know you probably don't know me but that's cool. We're about to be besties.

So where should I start? I've wanted to have my own blog since my sophomore year of undergrad and went through several different blog names before I landed on Hello Weirdos (nyymphette, A Well Dressed Hobo, blah). But I think they didn't stick because they didn't fully capture what I wanted to say.

I am weird. This is a fact and I have embraced that and I wanted to connect with my fellow weirdos. *hugs*

I also love beauty and books and wanted to combine the two areas and sprinkle in some of my personality. Why didn’t I just start a YouTube channel? I don’t like hearing my voice and my face would be in a permanent state of disgust from editing videos so there’s that. I also just love words. I like the active quality of reading because you have to focus on one thing and it creates this intimacy with the reader.

That’’s right, we are getting cozy af here. I pretty much just wanted to create a space for people like me and be able to learn and grow from those people as we share our experiences. So welcome to Hello Weirdos.
