My life is a mess but like an organized mess.

September Wrap Up

I am tired. Period.
This month I went to a concert that made me feel like an old lady, went to a play with a bunch of old ladies in attendance and accepted that I am going to be an old cat lady one day.
Ski Mask the Slump God
What a name. I love a good mosh pit if you couldn't tell from my August Wrap Up but your girl ended up sitting in the parent section for this one. (I met a very nice lady who was given tickets by her daughter as a joke lol) I got my life low-key and Ski is so energetic and like a raspy little teddy bear. My one complaint would be the seemingly never ending openers he had that kinda just screamed the whole time or covered someone else's song. But he was a bop.

Fences
So back in my undergrad days I had to work hard to find topics to cover in my journalism classes that weren't terribly boring . Your girl was STRUGGLING at times. But during my adventures in finding interesting content I made a friend in the performing arts school and things have come full circle and I got to watch him perform in the stage play Fences. The play was, in the words of Funky Dineva, black like this and not like that. There were black alumni in attendance and they smelled like my aunts and uncles at the family reunion (if you know, you know). It was nice to have such a rich black experience since that's something I've been grappling with because I'm in so many predominantly white spaces. The ending of the play even got me misty eyed but my face was BEAT and no tears formed against me were gonna prosper that day.

titties=out. face=beat.
Accepting that I'm old.
Sooooo...my name is Dominique and I've become a flaky bitch. I was supposed to go on a three day hooch bender for homecoming but my bed started calling my name and work was at 6 am and my knees have been popping lately. How am I gonna throw some ass with arthritis? HOW? It has been a creeping realization that I am approaching the age where I need space and air conditioning and somewhere to sit down when I go out. I'm hopeful that I can have some more exploits before I exit my 20s...but after being told I remind someone of their grandma because of my love of Investigation Discovery shows the bar is on the floor.

September was pretty chill (don't worry, October is looking real interesting). I think it's important to recognize when you need to sit your ass down and that's exactly what I did.

Xoxo,
Dominique
